Situated on the 8th floor and rooftop of one of Adelaide most historical buildings you will find the hidden gem 2KW. Doubling as a great spot for a rooftop cocktail or long lunch hideaway, this restaurant is a peaceful airy space that eases the soul.

2KW has on offer multiple spaces to relax into, but my favourite feature is at it's heart; the kitchen. As you are seated in the indoors dinning area your eyes feast on the beautiful clean spacious kitchen with the chefs whirling around in a ballet of cooking. The smells flowing out delight your senses, leaving you eager to dive right into the menu.

The staff were friendly and very attentive. Our server had a gorgeous smile and temperament that made me feel like we'd been here before and were old friends visiting. He was happy to guide us with the menu, which is designed for sharing between people, but we decided to go with the Feed Us set menu. Let me ease your mind, you will not be disappointed with this choice one bit! The menu itself is simple and I'd suggest any dish would be an absolute win.

As starters we were served:

  • Yorke Peninsula white pea hummus, daikon, kohlrabi, pickled walnut, sea parsley

  • 2KW daily baked sourdough

  • Orange and juniper brined beetroot, whipped Woodside goats curd, hazelnut

  • Yellow Fin tuna sashimi, fresh Tasmanian wasabi, shoyu dashi jelly, avocado

  • Charred Western Australian octopus, muhammara, chimichurri

For mains we were served:

  • Shio koji pasture raised chicken, ancient grains, spring vegetables, watercress pesto

  • 1.2kg Lamb shoulder, mint caramel, edamame, rau ram

  • Triple cooked salt and vinegar potatoes

  • Roasted seasonal greens, filmjölk, fermented chilli gel, black bread crumb

To top off, desert were amazing orange infused chocolate and some form of heavenly doughy cookie. I kid you not when I say I wanted to rob the kitchen of all these cookies - pure heaven.

Final conclusions

The entire set menu was stunningly plated and would make even the judgiest food critic happy. I also love the rooftop bar area, perfect for a cocktail before or after your outstanding lunch.
